In December 2015, an engineer from Halifax, Canada, was looking for a heat exchange solution for the 500-square-foot coastal complex.
A plan was preliminarily designed: a system consisting of polyethylene pipes, which extends from the sea to Halifax Port for 600 meters and draws seawater from a depth of 12 meters.

Once completed, the nearby residential areas/commercial buildings/hotels will benefit, cooling towers and fossil fuels are no longer needed, and zero emissions are truly achieved; but the technical difficulties are: 1. Blockage, mainly from aquatic plants and sediment 2.
Leakage, the seawater fluctuates and fluctuates. For this, the design of the pipeline is very important.
On the contrary, the flow rate and corrosiveness of seawater seem to be irrelevant. After all, the use and manufacturing process of plate heat exchangers have become mature.
This great plan uses a titanium plate heat exchanger to exchange heat for seawater, just like groundwater/well water is used to exchange heat, but it does not damage the ecology. It is expected to be completed this year.
